Discover the power of hypnotherapy to see yourself in a new light

Still Wondering if Hypnotherapy Will Work For You?

Review this list of frequently asked questions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. If you don't see the answer to your question here, schedule a consultation to learn more.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a heightened state of focus in which the body and conscious mind are in a relaxed, peaceful state. The subconscious mind remains very alert and receptive to positive thoughts and

suggestions for change.

Hypnosis is a natural state that each of us experiences on a daily basis to varying degrees. If you’ve ever been so engrossed while surfing the web, watching a movie, or reading a book that

you’ve lost track of time; you’ve experienced the hypnotic state. Another example of the hypnotic state is when you’re experiencing that drowsy relaxed feeling immediately before going to sleep or upon awakening. And if you’ve ever pulled into your driveway but don’t remember how you got there; you’ve experienced “highway hypnosis.”

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is combining hypnosis with the guidance of a certified hypnotherapist. Your

hypnotherapist guides you to turn your attention inward to find and use your own resources to make changes or regain control over certain areas and aspects of your life.

Does hypnotherapy really work?

Yes! By harnessing the power of your own subconscious mind, hypnotherapy is often quick and

effective in resolving personal issues and improving focus and performance, whether at work or play. With hypnotherapy, you can effectively replace limiting behaviors with attitudes and actions that promote growth and success. Hypnotherapy helps you focus, direct, and maximize your own inner power. It’s an effective, relaxing and drug-free choice for change.

It’s also backed by peer-reviewed science attesting to its effectiveness in treating a wide variety

of issues, ailments, and conditions. View additional details and journal abstracts.

Can I be hypnotized?

Yes. As long as you want to experience hypnosis and give consent. No one can be hypnotized against their will.

What does hypnosis feel like?

We all internalize experiences differently, but most people report having a pleasant experience,

feeling very calm and relaxed. Some have described their physical experience as feeling “light” or like they were “floating,” while others have said they felt “heavy.” The general consensus is that it’s wonderfully relaxing.

Will I lose control of my mind or body?

No. You cannot be forced to do, say, or reveal anything you don't want to. Hypnosis cannot cause

you to do anything against your free will or ethics. You are always in control and aware.

Therapeutic hypnosis is used to improve your health and well-being. It is completely

different from stage hypnosis, which is used for entertainment purposes only.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. I will always formally end the hypnotic state at the end of each session. In any case, you

would come out of hypnosis naturally in less than 15 minutes.

What are some other issues in which hypnotherapy is an effective treatment?

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat more than 140 issues - everything from abandonment and chronic pain to over-eating and trauma. You can see a list of frequent issues HERE.

How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies with each individual. For some, one to three sessions are sufficient. Others may need six sessions. And others may want or need more sessions depending on the issue or issues they want to address.
